Three Police Stations in Varanasi Commissionerate in IGRS Police Station Ranking

Why In News?

On October 7, 2022, Varanasi Police Commissioner A. Satish Ganesh said that in the ranking of IGRS police stations, three police stations of Commissionerate Varanasi have come first in the state by scoring 100 percent marks.

  • According to Police Commissioner A. Satish Ganesh, Sigra, Adampur and Dashashwamedh police stations of Commissionerate Varanasi have got the first place in the IGRS disposal ranking. The in-charges of these three police stations will be honoured with citations.
  • The Commissioner of Police said that the reasons for the poor ranking of the three police stations - Kotwali, Chitaipur and Tourist - which come at the very bottom of the IGRS ranking - will be reviewed by a DCP level officer. Action is also fixed against the in-charge of the police station if negligence is found. Warning notices have been issued to all the three in-charges.
  • Varanasi police stations are at the top across the state in time-bound and quality disposal of complaints received on the Uttar Pradesh government's online grievance system Jan-Sunwai portal.
  • The COMPLAINTS received from the Public Hearing Portal is forwarded online to the concerned police stations by the IGRS cell formed in the police office. The police station in-charge sends the investigation of the references received to the concerned according to the time given online. The complaints received on the Jan-Suni portal are addressed by the officers and staff of the IGRS cell.

Central Government Approves Eight New Projects for Uttar Pradesh

Why In News?

On October 7, 2022, an official spokesperson of Uttar Pradesh informed that the central government has approved eight new projects, including sewerage management, in the state under the National Mission for Clean Ganga Project.

Key Points

  • The spokesperson said that in the 45th meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Mission for Clean Ganga, four projects for sewage management have been approved, including one in Varanasi.
  • The project also includes construction of 55 MLD capacity STP for exploitation of Assi Nullah. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs 308.09 crore.
  • A government spokesperson said the Varanasi project aims to achieve the target of zero untreated discharge from three drains — Assi, Samne Ghat and Nakhi.
  • Other projects include construction of 13 MLD STPs and renovation of existing structures. These Mathura-Vrindavan projects envisage blocking and diversion of 11 drains polluting the Yamuna river. Sewage treatment plants (STPs) will be constructed at Vrindavan and Kosi Kalan in Mathura.
  • A mega project to set up Bio-diversity Parks in four districts- Hapur, Bulandshahr, Budaun and Mirzapur has also been approved. These are Mohanpur Biodiversity Park in Mirzapur, Ramghat Biodiversity Park in Bulandshahr, Alamgirpur Biodiversity Park in Hapur and Ujhani Biodiversity Park in Badaun.
  • The spokesman said that these four places are located on the flood plains of river Ganga. The proposed parks are part of the reserve forests along with the floodplains of the Ganga and will play an important role in rejuvenation of the river and biodiversity conservation.
  • Bio-diversity parks will provide unique landscapes to the forest with a combination of native plant and animal species, creating self-sustaining biological communities created in an area. The overall outcome of Ganga bio-diversity parks will help maintain ecosystem services, bio-diversity and rejuvenation of river Ganga at basin scale.

'Invest Rajasthan Summit 2022'

Why In News?

On October 7, 2022, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot inaugurated the two-day 'Invest Rajasthan Summit 2022' held at JECC Sitapura, Jaipur.

  • The two-day summit is being attended by dignitaries from the most prestigious corporate groups around the world. Industry experts and leaders will share their experiences in the conclave and panel discussion organized under the summit.
  • Addressing the inaugural session of the summit, the Chief Minister said that large scale investment is coming to the state from this two-day summit. Before the summit, MoUs worth about Rs 11 lakh crore have been signed by the state government with investors. Through this, about 10 lakh people are likely to get employment. For the first time, MoUs have been signed on priority on the theme of 'Committed and Delivered'.
  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated 25 industrial areas in different districts of the state. He also inaugurated 18 industrial units and laid foundation stones of 33 industrial units. With the foundation stone and dedication, on the one hand, industrial development will be accelerated in various districts in the state, while employment and revenue will increase at the local level.
  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister also honored 6 personalities who have made Rajasthan proud in the country and abroad with their outstanding and extraordinary work in various fields. All of them were awarded a citation, shawl, momanto and a prize money of Rs 1 lakh.
  • From the field of justice, Justice Dalveer Bhandari, appointed to the International Court of Justice, former Chief Justice of India RM Lodha, Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal from the field of industry, LN Mittal, Chairman of ArcelorMittal and renowned producer KC Malu and famous Urdu poet Sheen Kaaf Nizam were awarded the 'Rajasthan Ratna'.
  • On the first day of the summit, 5 conclaves were organized - NRR, Tourism, Start-up, Agri-Business and Future Ready Sector, while MSME Conclave will be organized on the second day of the summit.
  • The chief minister also launched the first non-resident Rajasthani (NRR) policy and the Rajasthan Foundation's website during the Non Resident Rajasthani (NRR) Conclave session.
  • Addressing the Future Ready Sector Conclave - Exploring Investment in Future Ready Sectors organized under the summit, Industries Minister Shakuntala Rawat said that Rajasthan will be the first state in the country to implement the Green Hydrogen Policy.
  • The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has been appointed as the national partner for organizing this summit, which is supporting the state government to organize the summit.
  • The Chief Minister also launched the 'Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme 2022' (RIPS-2022) during the Invest Rajasthan Summit. Under this, industries that generate employment on a large scale in the state, contribute to the upliftment of Scheduled Tribes / Castes and do excellent work in the development of the region will be encouraged.
  • Under the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme 2022 , provision has been made for various types of subsidies and IGST recharge for such industries.

Formation of State Child Welfare and Protection Committee

On October 7, 2022, the Madhya Pradesh Public Relations Department informed that the state government has constituted a State Child Welfare and Protection Committee to monitor, evaluate and review Mission Vatsalya.

  • Additional Chief Secretary/Principal Secretary Women and Child Development Committee will be the chairman of this committee.

Compressed Bio-gas Production Scheme

Why In News?

On October 7, 2022, the Madhya Pradesh Public Relations Department informed that the state government has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of the Agriculture Production Commissioner for the implementation, monitoring and review of the Madhya Pradesh Compressed Bio-gas production scheme.

  • Additional Chief Secretary Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development and Forests have been made members in this committee.
  • Apart from this, Principal Secretary Cooperation, Energy, Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion, Panchayat and Rural Development, Urban Development and Housing, New and Renewable Energy, Environment, Medical Education and Scheduled Castes and Tribes Welfare and Secretary Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises will also be members.
  • The committee will have principal secretary food, civil supplies and consumer protection as member secretary.
  • The committee will review the availability of agriculture, forest waste, distillery waste and solid waste of urban bodies in connection with the establishment of compressed bio-gas plants in the state. It will also make an action plan related to the scheme and suggest for setting up bio-gas plants according to various geographical wastes available in the state. The committee will hold at least one meeting in 3 months.

Country's Largest Millet Processing Industry in Kanker

Why In News?

On October 7, 2022, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the country's largest millet processing industry set up at Nathia Navagaon in Kanker district. This will benefit farmers cultivating Kodo-Kutki-Ragi as well as women self-help groups.

  • On this occasion, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that this unit established under millet mission is the highest capacity unit in India. The annual processing capacity of this unit is 10 to 12 thousand tonnes, which will require about 34 to 40 tonnes of Kodo-Kutki-Ragi per day.
  • In this processing unit, Kodo-Kutki-Ragi will be processed by 7 types of machines and rice and their porridge, semolina, flour vermicelli, pasta, soup mix, biscuits, cookies, laddoos etc. will be made from Kodo-Kutki-Ragi. They will also be packaged. These products will be marketed at national and international level.
  • He said that cashew processing unit has been set up by Chhattisgarh government at Bakawand in Bastar, which is benefiting the farmers there. Tamarind processing unit has been set up in village Dhuragaon of Lohandiguda development block, which will benefit tamarind collectors.
  • Subsidy will also be provided by CSIDC for the promotion of this unit set up under the Millet Mission of the Government of Chhattisgarh. Came to set up this unit. I. M. R. An MoU has been signed with Hyderabad between Avani Ayurveda Private Limited and district administration North Bastar Kanker for technical know-how, high quality seeds, setting up of seed bank and training.
  • The processing unit of Avani Ayurveda Private Limited will provide direct and indirect employment to more than 100 people and will also benefit about 4 thousand farmers of the district and about 25 thousand farmers of the state, who cultivate Kodo-Kutki-Ragi crop. At the same time, women's groups who buy them will also benefit. With the establishment of this unit, the farmers of the district will be encouraged to cultivate Kodo-Kutki-Ragi.
  • It is worth mentioning that 'Millet Mission' has been started from the year 2021 with the aim of promoting the product, processing and use of millet in the state of Chhattisgarh. More than 20 districts of Chhattisgarh produce millets.
  • From the year 2020-21, for the first time, arrangements were made for purchase of Kodo, Kutki and Ragi through primary minor forest produce cooperative societies while fixing the support price. The support price has been fixed at Rs 30 per kg for Kodo and Kutki and Rs 33.77 per kg for Ragi. Apart from this, input subsidy is also being given by the state government under 'Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana' for the cultivation of other profitable crops instead of paddy.
  • Millets such as Kodo-Kutki-Ragi are highly nutritious cereals. Millets are gluten free and are rich in protein, dietary Fiber, vitamins and minerals. Millets are beneficial for obesity, diabetes, heart disease and many other diseases and they also increase immunity.

Inaugurates Tamarind Processing Plant Set Up in Dhuragaon

  • The plant is spread over 2 acres with 35000 sq ft of total construction in PEB and puff panel with all modern facilities. A food laboratory has been built here. Along with this, premium quality steel has been used as equipment.
  • Here all the norms of FSSAI will be strictly followed. This plant is fully automatic, there is a provision to work in manual mode for power backup, uninterrupted manufacturing.

Chief Minister Inaugurated 10 New Enclosures in Nandanvan Jungle Safari

On October 7, 2022, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated 10 new enclosures to give people a chance to know wild animals closely and make them aware in a program organized by the Forest Department at his residence office in the capital on the occasion of Wildlife Conservation Week. With these, the jungle safari now has a total of 28 enclosures.

  • Chhattisgarh is a state rich in forests and wildlife. More than 44 percent of the area in the state is covered with forests, where different types of wildlife roam. Keeping in view its importance, the state government has given priority to the protection of both forest and wildlife in Chhattisgarh.
  • Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that the national parks and sanctuaries located here are also rich in terms of biodiversity. As a result of the work being done under wildlife conservation in the state, the availability of food and habitat facilities of wild animals has increased. Under this, the Narva Development Program has also become an effective medium in preventing elephant-human conflict.
  • The Chief Minister said that every possible initiative is being taken by the government to protect forest and wild animals in the state. Under this, various works of protection and promotion of wild animals are being done through 3 national parks, 11 sanctuaries, 3 tiger reserves, one elephant reserve and one biosphere reserve under the protected forest area in the state.
  • Speaking at the event, Forest and Climate Change Minister Mohammad Akbar said that Nandanvan Jungle Safari Nava Raipur is asia's largest man-made jungle safari. There are many types of wild animals here.
  • Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) P.V. Narsing Rao informed that continuous work is being done by the department for the protection of forests and wild animals in the state. 10 new enclosures have been inaugurated in Jungle Safari. These include wild dogs, wolves, bison, chital, sambar, chinkara, porcupine, mongoose, moss, and snake dens.
