Draft to Include Two Districts of Uttar Pradesh in Delhi NCR

Why in News

  • A draft has been prepared by the Government of Uttar Pradesh for the inclusion of Shamli and Muzaffarnagar districts in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Key Points

  • The draft was announced in the 40th meeting of the National Capital Region Planning Board.
    • The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.
  • Along with this, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority was also declared as a metro centre.
  • During the meeting, a Combined Reciprocal Common Transport Agreement was also signed for better transport connectivity between Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan comprising the National Capital Region.
    • With this, the movement of these states in the NCR region will be possible without any hindrance.

Sheikhpura Health Department Ranked Seventh

Why in News

  • Recently, in the ranking released by NITI Aayog from March to June, Sheikhpura district of Bihar has been ranked seventh in the whole country with 'good ranking'.

Key Points

  • The district wise ranking has been released by NITI Aayog keeping in view the circumstances arising due to Covid.
  • In the ranking of districts released by NITI Aayog, Chandel of Manipur is at first place, Sahibganj of Jharkhand is at second place and Ferozepur of Punjab is at third place.
  • According to NITI Aayog, the condition of Sheikhpura is poor in agriculture, education, financial inclusion & skill development and basic infrastructure.
  • On getting the seventh position in the ranking, an additional allocation of Rs 3 crores will be given by the central government to the health department of the district.

  • Avani Lakhera, who won a gold medal in the shooting competition at the Tokyo Paralympics, has been announced as the brand ambassador of the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' scheme by the Rajasthan government.

  • Avani Lakhera has won the Gold Medal in the R2 Women's 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event at the Tokyo Paralympics.
  • Avani is a 19-year-old Paralympian from Jaipur, who is the first female player to win a gold medal in Paralympics for India.

'Rescue campaign' to Make Jaipur Beggary Free

Why in News

  • The Social Justice and Empowerment Department has announced to run a Rescue Campaign to make Jaipur city free from begging.

Key Points

  • This rescue campaign will be started from September 7, 2021.
  • This campaign will be run by Rajasthan Social Justice and Empowerment Department, with an aim to make Jaipur city free from begging and to rehabilitate beggars.
  • Under this campaign, arrangements will be made for beggars’ accommodation, food and rehabilitation by taking them to the four designated centers of the city.
  • Workable beggars will be provided jobs for livelihood by providing them skills.
  • Children indulging in begging will be sent to Balika Griha and Bal Griha and monks above 60 years of age will be sent to Old Age Home.

Navbharat Literacy Program

Why in News

  • On August 31, 2021, in the meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, approval was given to conduct 'Nav Bharat Literacy Program' in Madhya Pradesh.

Key Points

  • To increase the literacy rate in the state, 'Reading-Writing Campaign' was launched till July 31, 2021 and after that 'NavBharat Literacy Programs' would be conducted till March 2026.
  • These programs are being conducted in all urban and rural areas of the state to eradicate illiteracy of citizens above 15 years of age who could not get formal education and have crossed the age of formal education.
  • The main objective of this program is to provide basic and functional literacy to the illiterate.
  • This scheme will operate from the financial year 2021-22. The literacy program in the state will be implemented by the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan/Education Department in the state, district and block. Also, the organizations/individuals whose cooperation will be taken in making the illiterate literate will be called 'Akshar Saathi'.
  • Literacy classes will be conducted by Akshar Saathis on their own volition. In this, basic and functional literacy will be provided to the illiterate. No remuneration / honorarium will be paid for this work. No regular appointment will be made in the literacy program.
  • This project will be run with a mixed grant from the State and the Centre. In this project the cost sharing ratio for centre and state will be 60:40. In the literacy program, a physical target has been set to make 32 lakh 60 thousand illiterate people literate in five years. For this, about Rs 110 crore 84 lakh will be spent in five years.

Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana

Why in News

  • On August 31, 2021, the Council of Ministers of Madhya Pradesh declared the Scheduled Caste Welfare Department as the nodal department to conduct the 'Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana'.

Key Points

  • In the year 2020-21, 117 new villages have been selected by the Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh ​​Gram Yojana. The Scheduled Castes members of the selected villages will be directly benefited under the scheme.
  • The cabinet has approved the continuation of the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh ​​Gram Yojana in the years 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20.
  • It is noteworthy that in the 'Pradhan Mantri Adarsh ​​Gram Yojana', on the basis of the 2011 census by the Government of India, such villages with more than 50 percent Scheduled Caste population are selected, whose population is 500 or more.
  • The amount is released by the Government of India for the inter-flooring of infrastructure works in the Gram Vikas Yojana. Through convergence of other development works, there is a provision to declare the village as a model village by the concerned department for overall development of the village.

  • In the Asian Youth and Junior Boxing Championship held in Dubai (UAE) from 17th to 31st August, 2021, Haryana players won gold, silver and bronze medals by performing brilliantly.

  • In this boxing competition, Pranjal of Panchkula has won the gold medal in the weight category of 70 to 75 kg of Under-17 category.
  • Keerti Dhul of Kaithal won gold in 81+kg weight, Sanjana won silver in 81 kg and Lasu Yadav won bronze medal.
  • Haryana has also been included in the 5 states selected under the 'One State, One Game' scheme for the Olympics 2028.

First Woman Mining Engineer of CCL

Why in News

  • On August 31, 2021, Akanksha Kumari, a resident of Barkagaon, Hazaribagh, became the first woman mining engineer of CCL.

Key Points

  • This is the first time in CCL's four-decade history that a woman mining engineer has contributed. Akanksha joined duty in the Churi underground mine of North Karanpura area.
  • Akanksha is Coal India's second and first woman mining engineer to contribute to an underground mine. By choosing mining in his engineering course, she has not only broken the misconception that mining is only for men, but has also inspired more aspiring girl students like herself.
  • It is noteworthy that Akanksha's father Ashok Kumar is a teacher in a school in Barkagaon and mother Malti Kumari is a housewife. She did her schooling from Navodaya Vidyalaya.
  • It is to be known that Akanksha Kumari completed her engineering studies from BIT (Sindri) Dhanbad in 2018. Before joining Coal India, she worked for three years at Hindustan Zinc Limited's Ballanaria mine in Rajasthan.

  • On September 1, 2021, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched the mobile app and portal of Chhattisgarh Quantifiable Data Commission for the calculation of Other Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections in the state's population and started the survey work for calculation through this app. .

  • It is noteworthy that the State Government has constituted the Chhattisgarh Quantifiable Data Commission for the calculation of Other Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections in the state's population. Its office has started in PWD Chowk, Teak Bungalow Complex, Katora Talab in the capital Raipur.
  • This mobile app named 'CGQDC' has been developed by Chips.
  • Chhattisgarh Quantifiable Data Commission secretary B.C. Sahu said that after installing the mobile app, the applicant will have to register in the app.

  • Recently North America Chhattisgarh Association (NACHA) has been awarded 'Organization of the Year' at the 10th Annual Global Community Oscar Awards ceremony held in Chicago.

  • This is the first award that NACHA has received from senior US political leader Danny Kay Davis and Amex Leadership.
  • It has been selected in view of the rapid growth of Chhattisgarhi NRI Association of the Year.
  • Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel congratulated all the members of NACHA on being honored with the Global Community Oscar Award.
  • The Community Global Awards are sponsored by senior US Congressman (House of Representatives) Danny Davis, along with international organizations the American Multi-Ethnic Coalition and the Multi-Ethnic American Task Force.
  • It is worth mentioning that Nacha was started in Chicago in 2017 to promote Chhattisgarh heritage and culture outside India and now it is an international brand and many programs have been launched to promote the state and support the Chhattisgarh community at the global level.
