Sujalam Jharkhand 2026 Conference

Why in News?  

The Sujalam Jharkhand 2026 Conference on Water Security was organised in Ranchi, to discuss strategies for addressing water scarcity and ensuring sustainable water management in Jharkhand.  

Key Points  

• Organised by: The one-day conference titled “Sujlam Jharkhand 2026” was organised by the Sustainable Commerce Forum (SCF).  
• Objective: The event focused on developing long-term solutions for water security in Jharkhand, which faces seasonal water scarcity due to its topography and climate variability.  
• PPCP Model: Experts recommended a Public-Private-Community Partnership (PPCP) model integrating government schemes, private sector investment, and community participation for effective water management.  
  • It highlighted the use of smart technologies such as IoT-based monitoring systems, sensors, and micro-irrigation techniques to improve water efficiency and reduce wastage.  
  • Water Pledge: The programme concluded with a “Water Pledge,” a collective commitment to water conservation, including pond rejuvenation, rainwater harvesting, wastewater management, green and grey infrastructure, sponge city initiatives, and modern irrigation techniques.

Vijay Takes Oath as Tamil Nadu CM

Actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay took oath as the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, marking a major political shift in the state. The swearing-in ceremony was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and administered by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar.

PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates PM MITRA Park at Warangal, Telangana

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the PM MITRA Park at Warangal, marking a significant milestone in India’s industrial and textile growth journey.

• PM MITRA Park, Warangal: Spread across 1,327 acres, the park has been developed with an investment of approximately 1695.54 crore. 
• Infrastructure: The facility features world-class plug-and-play infrastructure, including common effluent treatment plants, stable power supply, and advanced logistics hubs to reduce transaction costs. 
• The "5F" Vision for Textiles: During the inauguration, the Prime Minister reiterated the "5F" Formula (Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign), aimed at making India a global textile powerhouse: 
  • Farm: Supporting cotton farmers in Telangana. 
  • Fibre: Processing raw materials locally. 
  • Factory: Large-scale manufacturing within the park. 
  • Fashion: Designing high-quality apparel for global trends. 
  • Foreign: Boosting India’s share in the global textile export market. 
• Regional Development: Warangal, already known for its "Kakatiya Mega Textile Park," is now positioned as a primary textile hub in Southern India, aligning with the "Make in India" and "Viksit Bharat 2047" initiatives.

Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani (Retd) Appointed as CDS

Why in News?

The Government of India has appointed Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani as the new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). He will succeed General Anil Chauhan after the completion of his tenure.

• Chief of Defence Staff (CDS): The post of CDS was created in 2019 following the recommendations of the Kargil Review Committee and subsequent defence reforms. 
• The CDS acts as: 
  • Principal Military Adviser to the Government of India 
  • Permanent Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee 
  • Secretary of the Department of Military Affairs (DMA) under the Ministry of Defence 
• First CDS: India’s first CDS was General Bipin Rawat. 
• Profile of Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani: Commissioned into the 8th Battalion of the Garhwal Rifles in 1985. 
• Served as:
