State Sports Awards and Honors Scheme

Why In News?

According to the information received from the media on March 5, 2023, the Bihar government has made a state sports award and honour scheme to give sports awards to the winning players and coaches of the state in national and international sports competitions.

Key points

  • A nine-member selection committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Director General of the State Sports Authority to select the players in the state.
  • Under this committee, winners of sports competitions organized by organizations like National Sports Federations, All India Inter-University Sports Board, School Game Federation of India, Sports Authority of India and Paralympic Committee of India will be selected under the sports identified by the International Olympic Committee.
  • The medal winners will be felicitated on The National Sports Day on August 29 every year.
  • Under the State Sports Awards and Honor Scheme, the gold medal winner in the Olympic Games will get Two crore rupees, the silver medal winner will get One and a half crore rupees and the bronze medal winner will get One crore rupee.
  • The gold medal winner in the Asian Games will get Rs 1.5 crore, the silver medal winner will get Rs 1 crore, and the bronze medal winner will get Rs 75 lakh.
  • In the official Asian Championships, gold medal winners will get Rs 75 lakh, silver medallists Rs 50 lakh and bronze medallists Rs 30 lakh.
  • If there are players from Bihar in the Indian team that wins international cricket, then the state government will also reward them. If there are any players from Bihar in the winning or runner-up Indian team of World Cup or T-20, then the government will give them one and a half and one crore respectively.
  • The state government will give one crore and 75 lakhs to the Bihari member of the winning and runner-up team of the Champions Trophy respectively and four lakh, three lakh and two lakhs to the first, second and third place players of the national level national games.

Sanchi will Become the First Solar City of the State

On March 4, 2023, Dr. Prabhuram Chaudhary, Minister of Public Health and Family Welfare of Madhya Pradesh, performed land to make Sanchi city a solar city in village Nagauri of Sanchi development block of Raisen district of the state.

Now Sanchi is being developed as the second solar city of the country and the first solar city of the state to meet the power requirements and make it self-reliant in power supply.
  • He informed that electricity will be produced using solar energy for Sanchi city and surrounding rural areas. A 3 MW solar plant is being set up in Nagauri and 5 MW in Gulgaon.

  • Economic 2023-24 Status of Budget:
    • The state's gross domestic product of the current year 2022-23 is estimated at 8 percent compared to the year 2021-22 at a stable rate. This is higher than a 7 percent increase at the national level.
    • In the year 2022-23, there is a 5.93 percent increase in agriculture, 7.83 percent increase in industrial sector and 9.21 percent increase in service sector. Agriculture, industry and service are more estimated than the state growth rate center in all three areas.
    • The state's gross domestic product on the prevailing price increased from 4 lakh 06 thousand 416 crore in the year 2021-22 to 4 lakh 57 thousand 608 crore in the year 2022-23, which is 12.60 percent more than the previous year.
    • In the year 2021-22, per personal income per year of Rs 1,33,898 per person in 2022-23, which is 10.93 percent more than the previous year.
  • Highlights of the Budget:
    • A provision of Rs 6,800 crore for Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyaya Scheme to make the state of Chhattisgarh, famous as a 'bowl of paddy'. Rajiv Gandhi Rural Landless Agricultural Worker Justice Scheme expansion for rural areas as well as Nagar Panchayat area.
    • A provision of Rs 250 crore for providing unemployment allowance at the rate of Rs 2500 per month under the new scheme to provide unemployment allowance to educated unemployed.
    • The amount of monthly pension given under the Social Security Pension Scheme to the destitute, elderly, disabled and widow and abandoned women will be given Rs 500 per month.
    • Provision of Rs 1000 crore for various urban infrastructure construction works in urban areas.
    • A provision of Rs 50 crore for the establishment of an industrial park in the urban area on the lines of the establishment of Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park.
    • A provision of Rs 200 crore for the establishment of new medical colleges in Manendragarh, Geedam, Janjgir-Champa and Kabirdham districts.
    • A new thermal powerhouse will be established in Korba West. Provision of Rs 25 crore for this in the budget.

    • Monthly honorarium of Anganwadi workers 6,500 per month to Rs increased from Rs 10,000 per month. Honorarium of Anganwadi helpers 3,250 to Rs increased from Rs 5,000 per month. Honorarium of mini Anganwadi workers 4,500 to Rs increased from Rs 7,500 per month.
    • Honorarium at the rate of 2200 rupees per month from the state item to Mitanin sisters from earlier incentives.
    • Village Kotwars increased the amount of earlier honorarium based on service land to Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,000, Rs 3,375 to Rs 4,500, Rs 4,050 increased to Rs 5,500 and Rs 4,500 to Rs 6,000 per month. Village Patel's monthly honorarium increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000.

  • There are a total of 10 districts in Kerala in the list of 147 sensitive districts, where landslides are threatened. The list of 10 most landslides risk districts include three districts in Kerala.
