New Vidhan Bhavan will be built in Uttar Pradesh on the Lines of Central Vista

Why In News?

On March 3, 2023, Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana said that Uttar Pradesh will soon get the gift of a new Vidhan Bhavan on the lines of the country's new Parliament Building (Central Vista). Members of the 18th Legislative Assembly will get a chance to sit in the new Assembly.

Key points

  • Vidhan Sabha Speaker Satish Mahana said that a target will be set to complete the construction of the new Vidhan Bhavan before the year 2027. It will be fully eco-friendly, earthquake resistant and equipped with modern facilities.
  • Due to the old building becoming very old, the space is reduced according to the growing needs, due to the pressure of heavy traffic around, a new Vidhan Bhavan is being built elsewhere. For this, initially Rs 50 crore has been kept in the budget.
  • The Uttar Pradesh government aims to hold at least one session of the 18th Assembly in the new Vidhan Bhavan. The new Vidhan Bhavan will be constructed according to the growing needs.
  • It is noteworthy that the current Vidhan Bhavan is about 100 years old. Its foundation was laid on December 15, 1922, by the then Governor Sir Spencer Harcourt Butler. The building was completed in about six years and was inaugurated on February 21, 1928.
  • The present Vidhan Bhavan was constructed by M/s Martin & Co. of Kolkata. Its chief architects were Sir Swinton Jacob and Hira Singh. At that time Rs 21 lakh was sanctioned for the construction of Vidhan Bhavan.
  • The present Vidhan Bhavan of Uttar Pradesh is an excellent example of the mixed style of European and Awadhi construction. It currently has a seating capacity of 403 MLAs.
  • In July 1935, a separate chamber was proposed for the meetings and office rooms of the Legislative Council. The extension building was constructed by chief architect A.M. Martin. It was completed in November 1937 under the supervision of the Public Works Department. The Legislative Council currently has a seating capacity of 100 members.
  • It is known that in the Central Vista project, along with the new Parliament building in Delhi, other central government offices are being constructed. It is believed that this new Parliament building will emerge as a magnificent example of architecture competing with the monuments of the colonial period along with grandeur.

Ganga Water Supply Scheme and Gayaji Dam got National Award

Why In News?

  • Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that Rajasthan is at the first place in the country in the field of renewable energy due to the investment-friendly policies of the state government.
  • He informed that investors are coming forward to set up wind power, hybrid plants and green hydrogen projects along with solar energy in the state. The state government is committed to manufacture the necessary equipment for renewable energy plants in Rajasthan itself so that along with environmental protection, employment can also be created at the local level.
  • The Chief Minister said that Rajasthan has immense potential in the field of renewable energy. The country's largest solar park is in Bhadla (Jodhpur). Rajasthan has been given the National Energy Conservation Award in the year 2022 due to outstanding performance in renewable energy across the country and RRECL has been awarded by the Ministry of Renewable Energy at the national level.
  • Mou's were signed between the state government and investors during the conclave. The MoU signed between the state government and Torrent Power Limited in the renewable energy sector create will bring investment of Rs 37,000 crore in the state and 6150 jobs.

Jharkhand Budget 2023-24

  • Other important points of Jharkhand Budget 2023-24 -:
    • In the year 2023-24, a budgetary provision of Rs 300 crore has been made to connect maximum beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Pashudhan Vikas Yojana. There is a proposal of Rs 180 crore for the establishment of new dairy plants in Giridih and Jamshedpur and milk powder plant and milk product plant in Ranchi.
    • In order to provide irrigation wells, it is proposed to implement a new scheme called Birsa Irrigation Well Promotion Mission in convergence of MGNREGA and State Plan. Under this scheme, irrigation wells will be constructed on the personal land of 1 lakh farmers.
    • Panchayat Secretariat Strengthening Scheme is being launched by the government to provide all the facilities to the common people at the panchayat level under one roof. In addition to the Panchayat Office in all panchayat secretariats, all types of related certificates, online facilities, facilities related to banking correspondents, light work will be provided on the scheduled day through Pragya Center.
    • Incentive amount to encourage widow remarriage, distribution of free sanitary napkins for the spread of cleanliness among women, providing nutritious food to pregnant women before delivery and distribution of maternity care kit after delivery 'Women and Kishori Kalyan' It is proposed to start the scheme.

    • Psychiatry centers will be established in Palamu, Chaibasa and Dumka. Alcohol De addiction Center will be opened in Ranchi on PPP mode.
    • In the year 2023-24, the target is to expand the Chief Minister's Employment Generation Scheme and benefit two lakh youth.
    • In the year 2023-24, it is proposed to set up a model library in the hostels for the smooth functioning of teaching and learning.
    • In view of the importance of judicial, administrative and financial work roles of Manki, Munda, Dakua etc. under the Manki-Munda governance system, it is proposed to make two-wheelers accessible to them in the year 2023-24.

  • Advance Estimates at prevailing prices: Gross State Domestic Product (Market Price) (GSDP at Market Prices) in the year 2022-23 is likely to increase from Rs. 406416 crores in the previous year 2021-22 to Rs. 457608 crores, which shows an increase of 12.60 percent. Is.
