NHRC Takes Cognizance of Contaminated Water Deaths in Indore

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of the incident in which seven people died and over 40 were hospitalized due to contaminated drinking water in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

- Cause of Contamination: The main drinking water pipeline passes beneath a public toilet, and due to leakage, sewage mixed with the drinking water.
- Several other water distribution lines were found broken, leading to contaminated water reaching households.
