9 Medical Colleges Inaugurated

Why in News

On October 25, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 9 medical colleges of the state - Siddharthnagar, Etah, Hardoi, Pratapgarh, Deoria, Ghazipur, Mirzapur, Fatehpur and Jaunpur constructed at a cost of Rs 2329 crore in Siddharthnagar district.

Key Points

  • In Uttar Pradesh, 30 medical colleges are opening under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana.
  • The work of these 30 medical colleges has been carried forward with the help of the Government of India and in some districts by the State Government from its own resources.

‘Pradhamnatri Swasthya Bharat Yojna’

On October 25, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 'Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Bharat Yojana' worth Rs. 64 thousand crore and inaugurated 28 projects costing Rs. 5189 crore in Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh.

  • On this occasion, the Prime Minister launched 'Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission' with Rs 64 thousand crores to give strength to the health infrastructure of the country including Uttar Pradesh, to prevent epidemics, to bring confidence and self-reliance in the health system.
  • Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that necessary infrastructure would be developed and integrated systems would be developed in 730 districts.

Ghar-Ghar Aushdhi Yojna

On October 25, 2021, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Munish Kumar Garg informed that Udaipur division has topped in the first year plant distribution work of important Ghar-Ghar Aushdhi Yojna of the State Government and Forest Department. It achieved this achievement by meeting the 100 percent target.

  • Munish Kumar Garg informed that more than 100 percent achievement has been registered in all the districts of Udaipur division in the distribution of saplings under the Ghar-Ghar Aushdhi Yojna.
  • Banswara, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Udaipur and Udaipur North have distributed medicines as per the allotted target.
  • Ghar Ghar Aushadhi Yojana was announced in the Rajasthan Budget 2021-22. Under this scheme, the distribution of plants started from July 5, 2021. This scheme is being operated by the Rajasthan Forest Department.

On October 25, 2021, Haryana Speech and Hearing Disabled Welfare Society, Panchkula was selected for the National Award for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in the category of Best Employer for the year 2021.

  • Swati Jangid, an Indian Sign Language teacher who has been working with the society since September 2019, has been selected in the Best Employee/Self-Employed (Deaf/Hearing Difficulty) category with Disability for her outstanding contribution to the ISL and representing India in International Chess Tournaments.
  • Akash Singh, an alumnus of Gurugram center has also been adjudged Best Employee with Disability/Self-Employed (Deaf/Hearing) category for his achievements in National and International Cricket Championships.
  • National Award was announced to Pyarelal of Hisar (Haryana) under the category of best handicapped employee/self-employed with locomotor disability, poly malnutrition disability, dwarfism, acid attack victim, leprosy treated, cerebral palsy.
  • These awards have been announced by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities). These awards will be presented in Delhi on 3rd December, 2021 on World Divyang Day.
  • It may be mentioned that in order to appreciate the dedicated efforts of individuals and organizations involved in the process of empowerment of persons with disabilities and to encourage others to excel in this field, the most skilled/best disabled employees, best employers, best innovative technological innovations and are awarded with separate awards for providing cost-effective technology.

Campaign to Find the Old Routes of Chardham

Why in News

On October 25, 2021, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami started the campaign by flagging off a 25-member team to find the old routes of Chardham.

Key Points

  • This campaign has been started by Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) in association with Track the Himalayas.
  • Under this, a team of 25 members of experts will travel more than 1200 km to find the old routes on the Chardham track. This campaign will be run by this team for about 50 days.
  • The 25-member team will work to find the old Chardham Marg and the Winter Chardham Marg.
  • This initiative will be a big step towards preserving our age-old heritage. This campaign will also encourage adventure sports in Uttarakhand.
