Prime Minister Inaugurated Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor

Why in News? 

Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, inaugurated the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor, a major infrastructure project aimed at enhancing connectivity and boosting economic development in the region. 

Key Points 

  • Inauguration: The corridor was inaugurated by Narendra Modi in Dehradun, marking an important milestone in infrastructure development in Uttarakhand. 
    • The project is a world-class expressway corridor designed to improve road connectivity between Delhi and Uttarakhand. 
  • Impact: The project is expected to boost trade, industry, logistics and warehousing, creating new economic opportunities and employment in the region.  
  • Investment: Around ₹12,000 crore has already been invested in the project, generating employment on a large scale. 
  • Tourism Boost: Improved connectivity will make major tourist destinations such as Haridwar, Rishikesh and Mussoorie more accessible and support tourism, including the Char Dham Yatra circuit. 
  • Environmental Protection: The project includes a nearly 12-km elevated wildlife corridor to ensure safe movement of animals such as elephants and protect forest ecosystems.

C-DAC Launches ‘e-SafeHER’ Cyber Security Awareness Programme

Why in News? 

The ‘e-SafeHER’ Cyber Security Awareness Training Programme has been launched to enable one million women across rural India to safely participate in the digital ecosystem. 

Key Points 

  • Launch: The initiative has been launched by C-DAC Hyderabad, a scientific society under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, in collaboration with Reliance Foundation.  
  • Objective: The programme aims to build cyber security awareness among women in rural India, enabling them to safely engage in digital activities such as financial transactions, livelihoods and access to online services. 
    • The initiative aims to empower one million “Cyber Sakhis” across rural India over the next three years. 
  • Programme: The initiative is anchored under the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Programme of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. 
  • Implementation: 
    • C-DAC Hyderabad will develop and localise cybersecurity training materials. 
    • Reliance Foundation will facilitate outreach and training through women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in rural communities. 
    • The programme will initially begin with training Cyber Sakhis in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha.
