Union Health Ministry Honored Chhattisgarh

Why In News?

• On December 10, 2022 the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare honored Chhattisgarh for achieving 100 percent target of making health and wellness centers functional before the deadline.

Key Points

• Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave certificates to Chhattisgarh for this achievement at a program organized in Banaras on Universal Health Coverage Day.
• Dr. Poonam Sisodia, Joint Director, Health and Family Welfare Department, Surguja Division, received this honor on behalf of Chhattisgarh in Banaras.
• It is known that Chhattisgarh has functionalized more centers than the target set for the operation of health and wellness centers till December 2022. Chhattisgarh had got a target to upgrade a total of 4825 Primary Health Centers, Sub Health Centers and Urban Health Centers and operate them as Health and Wellness Centers. At present, 62 more than this target i.e., 4887 centers are being operated in the state.
• Congratulating the Health Department and National Health Mission, Chhattisgarh for this excellent work and achievement, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Health Minister T.S Singh Deo said that soon all the selected health centers in the state will be upgraded as Health and Wellness Centers. • It is worth mentioning that the health and wellness centers of the state provide prenatal care and delivery, newborn health and immunization, family planning and reproductive health, national health program and communicable and non-communicable disease screening and management, mental health screening and management. 12 types of health services such as outpatient care and management for common diseases, general eye-nose-ear-throat care, oral health care, elderly health care services and emergency medical facilities are being provided.
• Yoga and wellness activities are also being conducted through these centers to make people aware of health. To provide universal primary health care and better health services to the residents of the state, Community Health Officers (CHOs) have been appointed in the Sub Health Center Health and Wellness Centers.

Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Memorial State Level Painting Competition

Why In News?

• On the occasion of the death anniversary of Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh on December 10, 2022, Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam inaugurated a three-day state-level painting competition at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur.

Key Points

• As many as 150 participants participated on the first day of a three-day painting competition organized by the Tribal Research and Training Institute from December 10 to 12 in memory of Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh.
• The state level painting competition has been organized in 2 disciplines - painting and drawing sheet painting in canvas. Participants from two age groups 16 to 25 and above 25 years are participating in the canvas painting competition. Similarly, participants in the age group of 12 to 18 and 18-30 years participated in the drawing sheet painting.
• Minister Dr. Tekam informed that prizes will be given to the participants who get first, second and third positions in every category and age group of the competition.
• In the age group of 16 to 25 years and above, the first prize winner will get Rs 11,000, the second prize winner will get Rs 8,000 and the third prize winner will get Rs 6,000.
• Similarly, in the 12 to 18 age group and 18-30 age group, the first prize winner will get Rs 5,000, the second prize winner will get Rs 3,000 and the third prize winner will get Rs 2,000.
• Apart from this, consolation prizes of Rs 1,000 will be given to 5 participants of each age group.
