Godhan Nyay and Mitan Yojana Got Praise

Why in News?

  • On July 6, 2022, Chhattisgarh's ambitious 'Godhan Nyaya Yojana' and 'Mitan Yojana' have received appreciation at the Digital India Week held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Key Points

  • It may be recalled that the Digital India Week is being organized from July 4 to 9, 2022 at Gandhinagar Mahatma Mandir in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
  • Participating in the conference on behalf of Chhattisgarh, Special Secretary, Electronics and Information Technology Department and Chief Executive Officer of Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society Samir Vishnoi gave detailed information about the ambitious Mitan Yojana of the state.
  • Vishnoi informed that the main objective of the 'Mitan Yojana' launched by the state government is to provide the benefit of home access service to the citizens while improving the government service delivery system. Apart from this, information about Godhan Nyaya Yojana was also provided.
  • Rajendra Kumar, Secretary, Union Ministry of Information Technology has praised the schemes run by the state government using innovation and the innovative aspects of Chhattisgarh.
  • Dr.Dinesh Tyagi, Chief Executive Officer, CSC while praising the MITAN scheme said that it is a real use of IT for citizen empowerment. Such initiatives have started in many countries.

Irrigation Schemes of Chhattisgarh

Why in News?

  • On July 6, 2022, Chhattisgarh government has sanctioned Rs.15 crore 94 lac 20 thousand for six irrigation projects in the state.

Key Points

  • 2 crore 11 lakC 78 thousand rupees have been approved for the construction of a pucca channel in the canal of 'Sedam Vyapvartan Yojna' of development block-Batauli of Surguja district. With the completion of the scheme, irrigation facility will be available in 202 hectare area.
  • 1 crore 99 lakh 87 thousand rupees have been approved for earth work, concrete structures and concrete channel construction work in the canal of 'Saliadih Reservoir' of development block Batauli. With the completion of the scheme, irrigation facility will be available in 202 hectare area.
  • 5 crore 92 lac 42 thousand rupees have been approved for the restoration work of 'Tamta Reservoir Scheme' of Pathalgaon Development Block of Jashpur district. With the completion of the scheme, irrigation facility will be available in 1160 hectare area.
  • 2 crore 24 lakh 62 thousand rupees have been sanctioned for the construction of 'Kododhara Reservoir Scheme' of Vikaskhand Garden. With the completion of the scheme, 195 hectares of kharif area will be irrigated.
  • CC in the main canal of 'Udnapur Reservoir Scheme' under Khadganwa development block of Korea district. 2 crore 61 lakh 32 thousand rupees have been approved for the work of drain construction, cleaning of canal beds and raising the height of the bank. With the completion of the scheme, irrigation facility will be available in 403 hectare area.
  • Similarly, Rs.1 crore 4 lac 19 thousand has been approved for the restoration work of 'Chandarpur Reservoir' of Bhaiyathan in Surajpur district. With the completion of the scheme, irrigation facility will be available in 214 hectare area.

Chhattisgarh Ranked 19th in 'State Ranking Index for NFSA'

Why in News?

  • In the first edition of the 'State Ranking Index for NFSA' released on July 5, 2022, Chhattisgarh ranks 19th in the entire country. Odisha is at the first position in this index.

Key Points

  • Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Textiles and Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal released the first edition of the 'State Ranking Index for NFSA'.
  • Among the general category states, Odisha topped the 'State Ranking Index for NFSA' with a score of 0.836, while Uttar Pradesh is second with a score of 0.797 and Andhra Pradesh is third with a score of 0.794.
  • Among the general category states, Chhattisgarh is ranked 19th with a score of 0.654 in the 'State Ranking Index for NFSA'.
  • Among special category states/UTs, Tripura is at the first position with a score of 0.788, followed by Himachal Pradesh with a score of 0.758 and Sikkim third with a score of 0.710.
  • Also in the three Union Territories, where Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) is cash-driven, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman Diu are at the top spot with a score of 0.802.
  • The index seeks to document the status and progress of the implementation of NFSA across the country and various reform initiatives after consultation with the states.
  • It highlights the reforms undertaken by the States and Union Territories and creates a cross-learning environment and scale-up reform measures by all the States and Union Territories.
  • The current index is largely focused on NFSA distribution and will include future purchases, PMGKAY distribution.
  • The index for ranking of states and UTs is built on three key pillars, covering the end-to-end implementation of NFSA through TPDS. These pillars are- i) NFSA- coverage, targeting and provisions of the Act, ii) delivery platform, and iii) nutritional initiatives.
