PM Chairs 60th DGP/IGP Conference in Raipur

Why in News? 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 60th All India Conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police in Raipur.

Key Points 

  • About: The 60th Conference was held from 28th to 30th November 2025, at the Indian Institute of Management in Naya Raipur, Chhattisgarh, providing a national platform to review internal security and strengthen policing aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat. 
    • Since 2014, the conference format has been continually upgraded, with the event being hosted across diverse locations nationwide—including Guwahati (Assam), Rann of Kachchh (Gujarat), Hyderabad (Telangana), etc. 
  • Theme: The conference centred on the theme “Viksit Bharat: Security Dimensions”, focusing on aligning policing systems with the goals of a developed and secure India 
  • Objectives: The conference aimed to assess progress on major policing challenges and develop a forward-looking roadmap for building a Surakshit Bharat, a safer India. 
  • Participation: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the conference, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, DGPs/IGPs from all States/UTs, Central Police Organisation chiefs, and selected DIG/SP-rank officers in attendance. 
  • Awards & Recognitions: During the conference, the Prime Minister conferred the President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service, and the Home Minister awarded Police Medals for Meritorious Service along with trophies for the top three police stations in the country. 
  • Core Discussion Areas: The conference held extensive discussions on Left-Wing Extremismcounter-terrorismcyber and women’s safety, disaster management, and the increasing use of forensic science and artificial intelligence in modern policing. 
    • Leaders, including the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, emphasized sharing best practices and highlighted major progress, such as the reduction of Naxal-affected districts from 126 in 2014 to 11 in 2025, supported by 586 fortified police stations and strengthened Centre-State coordination. 
  • Significance: The conference continues to evolve as an interactive, solution-oriented forum enabling senior police leadership to share best practices, discuss challenges, and directly engage with the Prime Minister—building modern, technology-driven policing systems for the future.
