Why in News
- Recently, the work being done in the direction of conservation, promotion and development of medicinal plants in Chhattisgarh has been appreciated by the international organization United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, (UNCCD).
Key Points
- Under this, Forest and Climate Change Minister Shri Mohammad Akbar and Provincial Secretary of Traditional Vaidya Sangh of Chhattisgarh State Shri Nirmal Awasthi have been honored by the said organization UNCCD.
- UNCCD appreciated the awareness campaign being run about medicinal plants in Chhattisgarh under the guidance of Mohammad Akbar and the efforts being made for the revival of the knowledge of medicinal plants and traditional medicine under the Home Herbal Garden scheme being run by Nirmal Awasthi.
- Appreciating this, Mr. Rajeb Bulharout of UNCCD Secretariat honored him by issuing a certificate.
- Provincial Treasurer of Traditional Vanaushadhi Trained Vaidya Sangh, Chhattisgarh, informed that public awareness campaign is being conducted under the Public Health Tradition, Promotion Campaign and Ghar Angana Herb-Bodi Bagiya Scheme of Chhattisgarh state by distributing medicinal plants free of cost every year.
- In addition to seasonal diseases, life-giving herbal medicines, including Bramhi, Ashwagandha, Satavar, Tulsi, Kalmegh, Giloy, Adusa, Chirayata, Pathar Chur, Mandupparni, Bhuiavala, Bhringraj, Hadjod etc., are distributed by the traditional doctors of the state.
