A Call to Action for Better Health

  • 10 Apr 2023

Imagine waking up one day with a sharp pain in your chest, and you are all alone. It starts off mild but gradually intensifies. You know something is wrong, but you're not sure where to go for help. Anxiously, you turn to your healthcare app for the first time to find the nearest hospital. However, you are confused by the vast number of confusing options on the face of the app that you can't figure out which option to choose. Can you feel the helplessness? Nobody wants to be in a situation like this.

In emergencies, every second counts, and having a user-friendly app that guides patients to the appropriate action can make all the difference. And the most important part of it is a good, visible, accessible Call to Action that even a first-timer can understand! So, let's explore how to maintain good health in the first place so you don’t fall in such an emergency. And then, we’ll also look at how to create an effective CTA so people can easily call for help!

Strategies to maintain good health

With the rise of chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer, taking care of our bodies and minds is more important than ever. But what does it mean to have better health? It's more than just eating a salad or hitting the gym a few times a week. It's a holistic approach to life that involves both physical and mental well-being.

1. Start Small

Improving your health is not a sprint but a marathon. Don't try to do everything at once, or you'll quickly become overwhelmed and give up. Instead, start small, focusing on one aspect of your lifestyle at a time. For example, commit to drinking more water daily, taking a 10-minute walk after lunch, or replacing sugary snacks with healthy alternatives.

2. Get Moving

Physical activity helps you maintain a healthy weight, boosts your mood, reduces stress, and improves your overall well-being. Find an activity that you enjoy, such as swimming, hiking, dancing, or cycling, and make it a regular part of your routine. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week.

3. Eat Well

Eating a balanced diet that includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats can help reduce your risk of chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Try to limit your intake of processed foods, sugary drinks, and unhealthy fats, and choose nutritious options instead.

4. Reduce Stress

Stress can affect your mood, sleep, digestion, and immune system, among other things. Find ways to manage your stress levels, such as deep breathing, meditation, yoga, or simply spending time with loved ones. Remember, self-care is not selfish but necessary for good health.

5. Get Enough Sleep

A good night’s sleep not only helps you feel rested and energized but also supports your physical and mental health. Aim for seven to eight hours of sleep each night and create a relaxing bedtime routine to help you wind down and prepare for restful sleep.

6. Practice good hygiene

Practicing good hygiene, such as washing your hands regularly, can help prevent the spread of germs and reduce the risk of illness.

7. Stay connected

Social connections are essential for good health. Spend time with family and friends, join a club or group, or volunteer in your community.

8. Stay up to date on healthcare

Regular check-ups and screenings can help detect health problems early when you still have the chance! Make sure you are going for routine checkups.

The Ultimate CTA Checklist for Health Industry

Why is a good Call to Action necessary?

Nobody likes to waste time finding out their desired option, let alone patients in a hurry. Everyone wants a clean, crisp option that just tells them what to do. Whether it's scheduling an appointment or signing up for a newsletter, a clean CTA will make it easy for patients. A well-designed CTA can also create a sense of urgency or importance, prompting patients to act quickly. So now, how should a good CTA be?

It should be visible and stand out from other content on the page. It should be concise and use actionable language, such as "Schedule Now" or "Get Started Today", in a way that makes it stand out from the rest. Persuasive language and proper, bold highlights also encourage patients to engage with healthcare services without wasting time.

Checklist to make a good CTA

There are certain principles to be followed in order to make an attractive and functional CTA. Especially in the healthcare industry, where not having a proper CTA can risk someone's life.

Here's how one should craft a strong CTA-

Define your goals and objectives

Before creating any advertising campaign, define your goals and objectives. What do you hope to achieve through your advertising? Do you want to increase patient volume, promote a new service, or raise awareness of your practice? Once you clearly understand your goals, you can create a CTA that aligns with them.

Understand your Target audience and the purpose.

1. WHO- Know your audience's needs or interests.

To create an effective CTA, understand the needs and interests of your target audience. Are they looking for a specific service or solution to a problem? Do they prefer a particular communication channel or format? By answering these questions, you can create a CTA that resonates with your audience and motivates them to take action.

2. WHAT- Action/power words work the best to motivate

The words used in CTA can greatly impact the number of leads. It's recommended to use action words like "schedule", "register," or "call" to get instant results. Be specific and not vague. The aim is to keep the readers focused on getting the action done.

3. WHY- Tell them why they should register which should include benefits or pay offs.

Another effortless way to get people to take action is by communicating the benefits. Any minor to major pros, such as special offers, access to a new service, and improved health outcomes, should be clearly visible to attract readers.

4. WHEN- Urgency to encourage immediate action

Creating urgency is the best tactic to make people sign up soon. Using words such as "limited time offer" and "call now" can persuade people to react immediately.

5. HOW- Explain in simple words

Readers should not be confused about how to do whatever they want to get done. Whether they want to make an appointment, connect to a doctor, or order some health supplies online, they should be able to do it without being confused. Also, make sure you don't put multiple calls to action in the same place, as it can be overwhelming for the reader. The layout should be clean, and well organised, so every Call to Action and its purpose should be clear.

6. WHERE- Mention an obvious action channel

Depending on the desired action, the readers should know their obvious action channel. It could be a clickable link, a phone number or a physical address; just make sure it's visible to them.

Appearance

And lastly, ensure that your CTA stands out and captures the reader's attention; it should be graphically strong and prominent. Using contrasting colours, preferably red, bold text, or an eye-catching design, can help draw the reader's eye and increase the effectiveness of your CTA.

So, this is how a good CTA is created that actually helps people in need. It's not so difficult, isn’t it? If reaching out to help is just one click away, we must make sure it’s easily visible and clickable! And before all this, ensure you take good care of your health so you never end up in an emergency like this.
