Recently, on the initiative of Doon Library and Research Center of Uttarakhand, researchers of archeology and history have discovered a stone-made Mahish (Buffalo) face quadrangular human statue from Deval village located in Yamuna valley in Uttarkashi district.

Here the inscriptions of Ashoka at Kalsi, the altars of Ashwamedha Yagya made of bricks at Jagatgram and Purola and the Devalaya group of Lakhamandal are famous.
