Why In News?
On September 16, 2023, at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar honored the country's top senior most artistes (above 75 years of age) with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, which also includes 4 top artistes from Bihar.

- These include senior artists of Bihar Suman Kumar, Ganesh Prasad, Raghuveer Malik and popular folk singer Bharat Singh Bharti.
- Bihar's folk singer, musician, lyricist and music guru Bharat Singh Bharti was given this honor for his special contribution in the field of folk singing.
- Bharat Singh Bharti has sung and written more than 1000 songs. He has also composed hundreds of Bhojpuri songs. Two collections of his songs ‘Nayka Bihaan’ and ‘Sapt Sarovar’ have come out.
