Why in News?

CM Mohan Yadav, addressing the “Data-driven Hyperlocal Interventions (DDHI)” workshop, stressed that no urgency justifies violating road safety rules and urged citizens to make safety “a habit, not an exception.”

  • During the event, he also inaugurated the ‘Sanjay’ App to enhance road safety management, with the workshop focusing on data-driven solutions for localised interventions to prevent road accidents.

Key Points

  • Road Safety App: The advanced road safety app called 'Sanjay' is designed to modernise road safety management by providing real-time traffic updates, monitoring road conditions, and alerting users about accident-prone areas
    • It also allows officials to track and analyse traffic data to make informed decisions and improve overall road safety strategies.
  • Publications: On the occasion, the Chief Minister also released a book titled “Road Safety Education System” and a report on “Road Safety”, prepared by IIT Madras, further demonstrating the state’s commitment to improving road safety through education and data-driven interventions.
  • Theme: The Chief Minister stressed that the theme of the workshop, "Every turn safe", should be ingrained as a culture across Madhya Pradesh.
  • Collaborations: Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Rakesh Singh also signed two separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during the workshop:
    • MoU with IIT Madras: The collaboration focuses on developing data-driven strategies to address road safety challenges effectively.
    • MoU with Save Life Foundation: This partnership aims to promote community engagement and awareness initiatives on road safety.
