Why in News?

On August 26, 2023, Jharkhand's most prestigious, reliable and popular newspaper 'Prabhat Khabar' awarded 'Jharkhand Gaurav Samman' to 26 people who raised the prestige of the state.

  • He was honored by Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan and Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato.
  • Person honored with 'Jharkhand Gaurav Samman'-
  • Environmentalist Jagdish Mahto - Forest agitator Jagdish Mahto, a resident of Kasmar block of Bokaro district, famously known as 'Tree Man', has conserved and promoted about 450 forests of Jharkhand even in adverse circumstances.
  • Writer-poet Nilotpal Mrinal - Nilotpal, a resident of Nonihat, Dumka, was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in the year 2016. He is a writer, poet, singer, social worker and social activist. Among his books, Dark Horse, Aughad and Yaar Jadugar have been among the best sellers.
  • Niranjan Prasad Singh (Babu) - Niranjan Babu, who was an example of suchita in politics, became MLA from Champaran assembly constituency for the first time in 1967 from Jansangh Party. At that time his age was 29 years. Became MLA from Barhi assembly constituency for the second time in 1972 from Congress party, then became MLA in 1980 and 1985.
  • Imtiaz Hussain - Imtiaz Ahmed is a big cricket coach not only in Dhanbad but also in Jharkhand. He was the manager of the Jharkhand cricket team for 12 years. He started coaching children from the year 1999 after taking VRS from TISCO. His disciples include international Test cricketer Shahbaz Nadeem, Ranji player CM Jha, Satya Prakash, Aamir Hashmi, Rahul Prasad and Kunjan Sharan.
  • Guru Sushant Mohapatra - Guru Sushant Mohapatra is the mask artist of Seraikela Chhau. He is recognized as a good Chhau mask artist in the country and abroad. In 1925, Prasanna Kumar Mohapatra, the elder father of Sushant Mohapatra, designed the first modern facade for Seraikela style Chhau. Sushant Mohapatra learned the trick of making masks from his elder father (Guru Prasanna Mohapatra) at the age of eight. After this the trend of this mask started increasing and now this mask has become the identity of Seraikela style Chhau dance.
  • Mohammad Khalid - For the last 20 years, unknown unclaimed dead bodies of all religions are cremated with different religious customs. At the time of Corona, dead bodies were cremated on a large scale in Ranchi and Hazaribagh. Between 2010 and 2016, the unclaimed dead bodies lying in the RIMS mortuary of Ranchi were cremated. After the death of pet dogs, they are doing the work of burying them, distributing bread among the helpless and deranged people roaming in the city for the last 5 years. They keep food in two boxes in the motorcycle and go on distributing it.
  • Asunta Toppo - Asunta Toppo of Chainpur block of Gumla district is physically challenged. During the financial crisis, Asunta studied up to PG with the help of 1000 rupees disabled pension and elder sister. Asunta won the gold medal for India in the para throw ball competition even in the financial crisis. Recently in Malaysia also he has won a gold medal for the country.
  • Kaushal Kishore Jaiswal - Kaushal Kishore Jaiswal, a resident of Dali village of Palamu, has been running environmental protection campaigns for the last 56 years. Under this campaign, he distributes free saplings. So far he has distributed more than 50 lakh saplings. Jaiswal is building the world's first eco-friendly Dharma Gyan Mandir in his village at his own expense. So far, he has been honored with more than 50 awards in the country and abroad.
  • Aditya Ranjan - Aditya Ranjan, an officer of the year 2014 batch of Indian Administrative Service, is originally from Bokaro. During his posting as Deputy Commissioner in Koderma, he did remarkable work in the field of school education. Started a project named 'Rail'. Because of this, Koderma district topped the state in every examination from 8th to 12th. The state government has decided to implement the 'Rail' model started by him in Koderma district in all the districts.
  • Father Ajit Khes - Father Ajit Khes is the Provincial Superior of the Society of Jesus, Ranchi Province of the Roman Catholic Church. Earlier, he was the Principal of St. Xavier's School, Doranda. Many educational institutions are being run by the Society of Jesus in Ranchi including St. Xavier's School, XRSS, XIPT, St. Xavier's College, St. John's School, Prabhat Tara School Dhurva.
  • Dr. Vikas Kumar - Dr. Vikas Kumar serving in the Neurosurgery Department of RIMS is an example for young doctors. Stay active on social media and always ready to serve the poor patients. At the same time, people are also kept informed about the new activities happening in the medical field.
  • Riya Tirkey - Riya Tirkey of Ranchi is the first tribal model in the country to make it to the top finalists of Femina Miss India in July 2022. She was awarded the title of Femina Miss India Jharkhand 2022 in the competition. Since then, Riya has been continuously training young girls from tribal-dominated areas, who consider the glamor world as their dream.
  • Atul Gera - Atul Gera is a big name in the state for his incredible contribution in the field of voluntary blood donation. Atul, the founder of 'Life Savers' organizes blood donation camps and connects youth to it.
  • Monica Mundu - Playback singer and actress Monica Mundu has sung in 12 languages across the country. She has also worked in the film 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story'. 'Jharkhand Kar Chaila' is his first film.
  • Binita Soren - Vinita Soren of Seraikela is the first tribal woman to conquer Mount Everest. She has also traveled about two thousand km from Bhuj in Gujarat to Wagah border in Punjab under the Thar Desert campaign.
  • Sukhdev Oraon - Sukhdev Oraon, a resident of Chattu across Kanke, is known for his innovative experiments in farming.
  • Sarojini Lakda - Sarojini, who has traveled from constable to IPS, hails from Garu block of Latehar, a highly naxal-affected area. MA degree in Olympic Studies from Germany. She was made Inspector in the year 1991 while doing out-of-turn promotion due to sports. She became DSP in the year 2008 and created history by becoming an IPS in the year 2023.
  • Nishant Kumar- Nishant Kumar started the startup 'King Fisheries' in the year 2018 in Booty Mod, Ranchi. Presently aqua culture has become the first largest commercial aqua farm in Asia. Nishant has developed five methods of fish farming. These include pond culture, RFF, pen culture, biofloc, RAS and reservoir methods.
  • Ranendra Kumar - Writer Ranendra Kumar is the director of Dr. Ramdayal Munda Tribal Welfare Research Institute. He has received Premchand Smriti Samman, first Vimla Devi Smriti Samman and many other honors for his remarkable contribution in the field of literature.
  • Vijay Pathak – Vijay Pathak of Indrapuri, Ranchi has established Roti Bank taking initiative in the direction of social concern.
  • Ayush Bathwal and Anirudh Sharma - Ranchi's Ayush Bathwal and Anirudh Sharma started a chain named Third Wave Coffee after Corona. Today more than 100 establishments have opened across the country.
  • Adarsh Manpuria - Ranchi youth Adarsh Manpuria is the founder of hotel chain Fab Hotels. Forbes magazine named him among the 30 most successful startup entrepreneurs under the age of 30 in Asia.
  • Padamchand Jain - 79-year-old Padamchand Jain, a hardware businessman from Upper Bazaar, bears the expenses of the funeral of the poor.
  • Emelda Ekka - Policewoman Emelda Ekka holds several records in the 400m relay. In 2023, she was promoted to the post of IPS.
