Jal Jeevan Survey 2022-23

Why In News?

On November 21, 2022, Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal, while presiding over a meeting of the Committee of Administrative Secretaries in Chandigarh, informed that under the Jal Jeevan Survey 2022-23 released by the Government of India, three districts of Haryana Ambala, Rohtak and Faridabad have been declared leaders in 100 percent tap connection coverage.

  • The Chief Secretary informed in the meeting that under the Water Life Survey 2022-23, among the three districts of the state, Ambala has secured the first position, Rohtak and Faridabad have secured the third position.
  • In the meeting, 10 departments including Technical Education, Electricity, Public Health Engineering, Civil Aviation, Public Works (Building and Roads), Architecture, Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education and Research, Irrigation and Water Resources, Cooperative and Home Department received Rs. 100 crores. As many as 54 projects were discussed. The total cost of these 54 projects is about 16 thousand crore rupees.
  • Giving information about the completed major projects worth more than Rs 100 crore in the meeting, it was informed that under the Smart City Project, the existing 11 KV substations under Sector-14, 17, 30, 31, 32, 40, Jharsa and DLF Division in Gurugram The renovation work of feeder line has been completed at a cost of Rs 255.8 crore. Similarly, widening of Karnal-Meerut road, NH 709A to 6 lanes at a cost of Rs 151.57 crore, construction of 4-lane road from Rai Milakpur to Khadak corridor and Bhiwani bypass at a cost of Rs 247.25 crore, Gurugram at a cost of Rs 105.92 crore The construction work of 576 multistoried houses has been completed.
  • It was informed in the meeting that work is being done at a cost of Rs 210.9 crore to increase water supply to ensure drinking water supply in 80 villages of Jhirka and Nagina blocks of Mewat district. Apart from this, the work of water supply scheme being implemented at a cost of Rs 114.7 crore in Bhalkhi, Mahendragarh is on the verge of completion.
  • He also directed the officers to prepare a plan and send a report within the stipulated time frame, strengthen inter-departmental coordination to ensure timely completion of important projects.
