Important Decisions of the Council of Ministers

Why in News?

  • In the meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on July 7, 2022, the approval of the 'Chhattisgarh State Electric Vehicle Policy-2022' and several other important decisions were taken.

  • The Council of Ministers met to approve the 'Chhattisgarh State Electric Vehicle Policy-2022' to promote electric vehicles in the state.
    • The policy will provide relief to the citizens of Chhattisgarh from rising petrol and diesel prices, while ensuring participation in keeping the environment clean.
    • The policy includes promoting the operation of electric vehicles, both commercial and non-commercial.
    • Under this, various discounts and facilities will be available on purchase of two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, freighters, passenger vehicles and other categories of electric vehicles in the state.
    • As per this policy a network of charging stations will be set up to provide easy charging facility for electric vehicles. Charging points will be available to EV owners at fixed intervals across national and state highways.
  • An important decision was taken by the cabinet to increase the income of farmers and increase the yield of pulses crops in the state, under which the state government would procure tur, urad and moong crops on support price in the Kharif marketing year 2022-23. Guidelines were issued for this.
  • It was decided to further rationalize the process of Chhattisgarh's residence certificate, so that people from outside the state do not take undue advantage of it. For this, it was decided to amend the pre-determined provisions.
    • Under this, along with the prescribed qualifications for admission in any institution or for service under the government, the examination of class 1st, 4th and 5th has been included in place of the examination of class 8 from any educational institution of the state of Chhattisgarh.
    • In other cases also, it has been decided to add 1st, 4th, 5th examination in the educational qualification.
  • In order to encourage the establishment of mega and ultra mega projects in the state of Chhattisgarh, it was decided to determine a special incentive package for investment in steel (sponge iron and steel) industries under the state's Industrial Policy, 2019-24.
  • Under 'Godhan Nyay Yojana', Gothan Management Committees were selected for public participation in Gothans of the state through NGI and NGO's through Centrally Sponsored Extension Reforms (Atma) Scheme to provide training, incentives and rewards and development and maintenance of Gothans. For maintenance, it was decided to earmark 3 percent of the budget provision under the Godhan Nyay Yojana for administrative purposes.
  • It was decided to provide incentives on sale of compost and bonus amount on annual compost sale to self-help groups and primary cooperatives attached to the Gothans.
