Why In News?
- On August 20, 2022, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced the 'District Indicator Framework (DIF)' and task prepared by the Chhattisgarh State Planning Commission to ensure localization and continuous effective monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) up to the district level. - Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that the 'Chhattisgarh SDG District Indicator Framework (CG-DIF)' prepared by the State Planning Commission is one such effective progress measurement framework, which will not only act as a guide towards achieving the SDG goals. but will also help the collectors of all the districts in taking evidence based decisions by identifying the areas identified as impeding progress.
- Similarly, the release of useful recommendations for various departments in the form of 'Task Force Report' will ensure selection of new activities and expected implementation.
- The Chief Minister said that there are many public welfare schemes of the state such as 'Mid-day Meal Scheme', 'Chief Minister Food Security Scheme', 'Universal Public Distribution System', Chief Minister Urban Slum Health Scheme', Chief Minister Haat Bazaar Clinic Scheme, Mahtari Jatan Yojana, The state government is trying to fulfill the objectives of SDGs through social security schemes like Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, Suraji Gaon Yojana, Godhan Nyay Yojana.
- Chhattisgarh State Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Ajay Singh said that on the basis of the 'District Indicator Framework' prepared by the State Planning Commission, district collectors and departments will be able to evaluate, monitor and monitor the progress of various Sustainable Development Goals.
- A total of 82 indicators related to social, economic, environmental and other aspects have been included in the 'District Indicator Framework'.
- Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain said the state government's development agenda is largely interlinked with the SDGs. The SDG framework provides data-based evidence for appropriate decisions to the departments concerned towards achieving the goals.
