Cabinet approves proposal to give three state police awards

Why In News?

5 The proposal for giving three State Police Awards was approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on April, 2022. Among these, 'Chief Minister-Padak' for gallantry, 'Home Minister-Padak' for excellence in investigation and 'Haryana Police Uttam Seva-Padak' for doing other good work will be given.

Key Points

  • The Chief Minister's Medal for Gallantry will be awarded to all rank officers and employees of the Haryana Police who are involved in saving life and property or preventing crime or arresting criminals, facing hardcore criminals, controlling mass movement, Will play a vital role in preventing and managing large scale law and order disturbances or for anticipating risk, above normal duty and displaying exceptional and distinguished acts of exceptional bravery.
  • The Home Minister's medal for excellent investigation will be awarded to those officers and employees, who use innovative, scientific methods of investigation, forensic and online investigation tools, play a special role in proving the guilty by speedy filing of charge sheet. .
  • This will help in maintaining high standards of crime investigation in the state and promote high standards of professionalism among the police force. Not only this, the rate of punishment of the guilty will increase, which will benefit the society.
  • Haryana Police Uttam Seva Medal will be awarded to those officers and employees of the police who are involved in law and order, IT technology, traffic management, administrative work in police stations, community policing and all other jobs of Police Department or through record-keeping and housekeeping.
  • For this, those policemen will also be eligible, who not only help in making policy decisions, but who have not yet been recognized for any formal award or reward.
  • A one-time cash prize of Rs 21,000 along with a medal, scroll, a certificate signed by the Chief Minister and the Home Minister will be carried on the uniform of the officers and employees to be awarded these medals with a color display above the left pocket.
  • In addition, for Group-B and C police officers, there will be an extension of six months in their service after retirement (if they are not availing any other extension in service). The number of medals in a calendar year shall not exceed 10 in each category.
