  • 1. Identify the place where Mount Manipur is located.


    Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Recently, the Union government has renamed Mount Harriet of Andaman and Nicobar (A&N) Islands to Mount Manipur. It has been renamed in a tribute to those freedom fighters of Manipur. Manipur celebrates Khongjom Day on 23rd April in commemoration of the freedom fighters of Anglo-Manipuri War.The war led to Manipur officially becoming a princely state under the indirect rule of the British crown.


  • 2. Where is Tamor Pingla wildlife sanctuary located?


    Chhattisgarh. It is located in the Surajpur district of Chhattisgarh bordering Uttar Pradesh. It is named after Tamor hill and Pingla Nalla. Tamor hill and Pingla Nalla are considered to be the old and prominent features of the sanctuary area.


  • 3. Identify the state where the Lukha River is located.


    Meghalaya. The Lukha is located in the southern part of east Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya where most of Meghalaya’s rat-hole coal mines are located. It receives water from the Lunar river (Wah Lunar) and small streams draining from the Narpuh Reserve Forest and the undulating hills of the area while flowing down. The river is mainly fed by monsoon rain and flows in the south-west direction and later takes a southern path after joining the Lunar river near the Gaddum village.


  • 4. Recently, a new cicada species (Platyomia kohimaensis) was found in which part of India?


    Nagaland. A new cicada species (Platyomia kohimaensis) was found in the Naga Hills of Nagaland. Cicadas are hemipteran insects (also called true bugs who have mouthparts used for piercing and sucking and have two pairs of wings). The species prune mature trees, aerate the soil, and once they die, their bodies serve as an important source of nitrogen for growing trees. They act as indicators of a healthy forest ecosystem.


  • 5. In which city is India's newest international airport located which is also a centre of the Buddhist Circuit?


    Kushinagar (Uttar Pradesh). The Kushinagar Airport in Uttar Pradesh is the latest entrant in India's list of international Airports. The airport is expected to provide seamless connectivity to people from South east and East Asian countries for Buddhist Pilgrimage Tourism. Kushinagar is the centre of the Buddhist circuit, which consists of pilgrimage sites at Lumbini, Sarnath, Gaya and others.
