Why in News

  • On January 14, 2022, senior Uttar Pradesh journalist Kamal Khan passed away due to a heart attack. He was 61 years old.

Key Points

  • Kamal Khan was the Executive Editor of NDTV's Uttar Pradesh Bureau. Kamal Khan was in journalism for two decades. After a long stay in print media, he started his TV career with NDTV and was associated with the channel till the end.
  • Kamal Khan was recognized as a flamboyant journalist. He was very popular for his distinctive style and language of presenting news.
  • He received the Ramnath Goenka Award and the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Award at the hands of the President for his outstanding contribution to journalism.

World Famous Shani Temple will be Developed as a Big Religious and Tourist Center

Why in News

  • On January 14, 2022, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and MP of Morena, Narendra Singh Tomar said that the world famous Shani Dev temple situated on the picturesque hill of Aanti village of the district would be rejuvenated. The temple complex will be developed into a major religious and tourist center.

  • Union Minister Tomar said that the development of the temple has been planned keeping this temple established at the national level as a major center of religious and tourism.
  • Shani Sarovar and Shani Kund will be constructed along Shani Parikrama Marg to give a grand look to Shani Dev temple complex. The development of the temple is divided into two parts - one internal and the other external development.
  • The internal development will be done within the temple premises in a state-of-the-art manner. Similarly, Parikrama Marg will be constructed in the external development. In this, apart from electricity, road connectivity, public facilities, shops and catering facilities will be provided in the Parikrama Marg, so that the devotees and tourists coming here do not face any kind of trouble.
  • At present there are two parikrama paths of Shani temple. One is 6 km in radius, while the other parikrama route is 21 km long. There are other temples in the nearly 21 kilometer long parikrama route, which will also be renovated. Plantation work on both sides of the Parikrama Marg has also been included in the restoration plan.
  • It is noteworthy that this Shani temple is counted among the ancient Shani temples of the country. Not only this, this temple also has religious importance, but due to lack of basic facilities, devotees coming here have to face many problems.

Dependents of Brigadier Lakhwinder will get Assistance of Rs 50 Lakh

  • On January 14, 2022, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khater said that permission has been given to the family of Brigadier Lakhwinder Singh Lidnr of Haryana, who lost his life in the Tamil Nadu helicopter crash accident. Along with this, one dependent from the family of the Brigadier will also be given a government job.

  • The Chief Minister said that under the ex-gratia policy of military and paramilitary forces, there is a provision to provide financial assistance as well as government jobs to the dependents of the martyr's family.
  • Under this policy, considering the death of Brigadier Lakhwinder Singh, who lost his life in a helicopter crash accident, as a provisional battle accident, special financial assistance and jobs has been announced. This is the first such case in Haryana.
  • It is noteworthy that on December 8, CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife and Brigadier Lakhwinder Singh Lidnr, along with several army personnel lost their lives in a helicopter crash in Coonoor district of Tamil Nadu.

  • Recently, software engineer Saswayam P Ranjan, resident of Dhanbad district of Jharkhand, after nearly two years of hard work, has designed a robot named AVIG, which can deactivate the virus of corona and other variants in a few seconds from home, office, mall-shop etc. Due to this the risk of spreading the infection can be zero percent.

Key Points

  • If a corona infected person unknowingly reaches a closed place, then there is a risk of this infection reaching another. In this situation the AVIG robot can be used in a limited area.
  • This robot will inactivate the harmful virus, bacteria present at that place. This robot works on a network of WiFi operated by Android phones, which by rotating its tiny wheels inactivates the bacteria, germs present by the effect of ultraviolet-ray.
  • This robot can be used in the factory production floor, corporate office, hospital, airport, metro, commercial mall, school, tuition hall, hotel, railway waiting hall, bank, restaurant, prayer hall, shop, store, parlor, community center, house-bungalow, in hundreds of places like apartments.

Governor Signs the Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill

  • On January 14, 2022, Governor Anusuiya Uikey signed the Bill introduced to amend the Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.

Key Points

  • The Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax Act (Amendment) Bill was passed on December 15, 2021.
  • It is noteworthy that after the implementation of GST, some difficulties have emerged in the new tax system.
  • The Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 provides for the audit of the books of accounts of the taxpayers by a Special Professional (CA etc.), as a result of which the taxpayers, especially the small and medium enterprises, have to face additional compliance burden.
  • Besides, certain discrepancies were noticed in various provisions of the Act. At the same time, there is a need to make the provision of taking input tax credit more stringent, so that the availability of wrong input tax credit can be prevented.
  • In order to reduce the compliance burden as mentioned above, to remove the existing anomalies in the provisions of the Act and to strengthen the provisions relating to input tax credit, it was decided to make certain amendments in the Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.
  • The Central Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Act, 2021 is in force with effect from March 28, 2021, in view of the decision taken by the GST Council. Therefore, it was necessary to amend the Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 accordingly.

  • Under this program, people are being motivated through Megha phones by volunteers to apply masks, follow social distance, get Kovid-19 vaccination.
