State's First Women's Library Inaugurated in Gumla

Why In News?

On July 3, 2023, Jharkhand's Finance Minister Dr. Rameshwar Oraon inaugurated Jharkhand's First 400-Seater Hi-Tech Women's Library in Gumla district of the state.

Key Points:

  • The above library is named after India's first woman teacher and social worker Savitri Bai Phule.
  • All basic facilities including books for all types of competitive exams have been made available in this library. It has thousands of books on various subjects which will be helpful for any type of competitive exam.
  • This hi-tech women's library has been built in honor of women, in which women and students can do their studies in a peaceful environment without any hesitation.
  • During this, Finance Minister Dr. Rameshwar Oraon also distributed blind sticks, wheelchairs, hearing aids and crutches to 112 disabled people from the allocation received under the welfare scheme. Under this scheme, about 550 Divyangjans have been identified in the district and after two months in the second phase, Divyangjans will be made available for their needs.
