State First Yoga Policy Proposal

Why In News?
On November 9, 2023, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey, AYUSH Secretary of Uttarakhand, said that the proposal for the first yoga policy of the state has been prepared. The government may soon approve this policy.
Key Points:
- Under this policy, the government will provide financial incentives for setting up yoga, spiritual and naturopathy centers in the state.
- According to the tourism policy, a provision is being made to give 50 percent subsidy on investment in yoga and spiritual facilities in selected hilly areas in B & C category. Apart from this, five percent additional subsidy will be given under the AYUSH policy.
- The Ayurveda and Unani department will be nodal to implement this policy. Investment proposals will be approved through a single window system.
- The state government is trying to make Uttarakhand an international yoga hub. Therefore, every year the International Yoga Festival is organized in Rishikesh by the Tourism Department.
- It should be noted that till now there was no policy to develop basic facilities of Yoga in the state.
