Maharashtra has become the first Indian state to partner with Elon Musk’s Starlink to provide satellite-based internet connectivity in remote and underserved regions.

- The Letter of Intent (LOI) was signed between Starlink Satellite Communications Pvt. Ltd. and the Department of Information Technology, Government of Maharashtra.
- The service deployment is subject to final regulatory and compliance clearances from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India

- Aims to connect tribal schools, primary health centres, forest outposts, and coastal zones.
- Focus on aspirational districts—Gadchiroli, Nandurbar, Dharashiv, and Washim.
