Rajasthan has emerged as the largest wool-producing state in India in FY 2023–24, accounting for nearly half of the country’s total wool output.

- Favourable Conditions: The state’s arid and semi-arid climate, vast grazing lands, and traditional pastoral practices support large-scale sheep rearing.
- Indigenous breeds such as Marwari and Chokla are prominent in Rajasthan and are mainly known for producing coarse wool suitable for carpets and blankets.
