Newly Constructed Building of Directorate ESI at Panchkula Inaugurated

Why in News?

On February 19, 2023, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal and Union Labour and Employment Minister Bhupendra Yadav inaugurated the newly constructed building of Directorate ESI Health Protection Department located in Sector-14 of Panchkula district of Haryana.

Key Points

• After inaugurating the building, Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal said that with the opening of the newly constructed Regional Office of ESI at Panchkula, the administrative activities of the insured persons of ESI of Haryana as well as Punjab, Himachal etc. will be run smoothly.
• He said that better health facilities are being provided to the beneficiaries through ESI in the state and better work is being done in this field in Haryana.
• It is known that earlier ESI and Haryana Health Department used to work separately, but last year it was mutually decided that not only the insured person but also other people can get their treatment done in ESI. Similarly, insured beneficiaries of ESI can also avail the facility of treatment in Haryana Health Department hospitals.
• At present, the number of ESI insured persons in Haryana is 25 lakh.
• Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav said that the foundation stone of ESI building of Panchkula was laid by Chief Minister Manohar Lal in the year 2018 and now this building has started functioning in the year 2023.
• On this occasion, the Chief Minister and the Union Minister also laid the foundation stone of ESI Dispensary Rai and Barhi Sonipat.
• Mr. Bhupender Yadav said that after the establishment of ESI Dispensary Rai (Sonipat), 1,06,440 beneficiaries including 28,010 insured and their families of industrial areas Rai, Nathupur, Wajidpur, Saboli, Bahalgarh will be benefited.
• Similarly, with the construction of ESI dispensaries Barhi, Ganaur, Sonipat, 31,720 beneficiaries including 8,347 insured persons and their families in the industrial areas of Barhi, Gannaur and Samalkha will be covered.
• The Union Minister informed that the construction work of ESI hospitals in Manesar and Bawal is going on at a fast pace with the cooperation of Haryana Government. Apart from this, ESI hospitals will also be set up in Rohtak, Ambala, Sonipat and Hisar.
• He informed that for the first time, the facility of Cathlab has also been started in ESI Medical College Faridabad last year.
• It is known that ESIC is a scheme in which there is no restriction on maximum treatment.
