On January 2, 2022, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Major Dhyanchand Sports University in Meerut district. A short film focusing on Major Dhyan Chand Sports University was also screened on the occasion.

- The university will be built on an area of 91.38 acres at a cost of Rs 700 crore.
