Establishment of Textile Park under PM Mega Integrated Textile Sector and Apparel Scheme

Why In News?

On February 14, 2023, the Council of Ministers of Uttar Pradesh has approved the proposal for establishment of Textile Park and transfer of land under the PM Mega Integrated Textile Sector and Apparel (PM Mitra) scheme. Also, the Council of Ministers has authorized the Chief Minister to make any kind of amendment in the scheme.

Key points

  • Under this decision of the Council of Ministers, some part inside the boundary of District Hardoi and (Village Aath Garhi Sohra, Village Attari, Village Rudankheda, Village Vishunpur, Village Jindana, Village Para bhadrahi, Village Salehnagar, Village Shahmau) Village and Tehsil Malihabad, District Lucknow A total of 72 gates with an area of 418.075 hectares (1033.082 acres) at P.M. Establishment of Textile Park is proposed under Mega Integrated Textile Sector and Apparel (PM Mitra) scheme.
  • Out of this land, 259.09 acres of Hardoi district and 903.07 acres of lucknow total land of 1162.16 acres, 1000 acres of land will be transferred/ acquired free of cost to the Handloom and Textiles Department.
  • A special purpose vehicle (SPV) will be formed. For this, a provision of Rs 10 crore (paid-up capital) will be made, of which 51 percent will be from the Government of Uttar Pradesh and 49 percent from the Government of India.
  • Special Purpose Vehicle will be formed under the Companies Act-2013. SPV Additional Chief Secretary/Principal Secretary, Department of Handloom and Textiles, Government of Uttar Pradesh will be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, New Delhi as the Chairman.
  • After formation of SPV for textile park, the concerned land will be made available to the SPV free of cost. After this the master developer will be selected and further action will be taken.
  • The textile park will be developed on PPP mode following other guidelines given by the Government of India. About Rs 1200 crore is estimated to be spent on this project.
