Key Points
- Dev Deepawali, meaning “the Diwali of the Gods”, is celebrated on Kartik Purnima, fifteen days after Diwali. According to Hindu belief, it marks the day when the gods descend to Earth to bathe in the Ganga, celebrating Lord Shiva’s victory over the demon Tripurasura — hence also called Tripura Utsav.
