Why in News

  • On March 8, 2022, Madhya Pradesh Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh informed that in the second phase of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana, one crore food plates have been distributed since February 26, 2021.

Key Points

  • During the second wave of the Covid epidemic, 27 lakh 19 thousand people were fed food from kitchen centers in the lockdown implemented from April 12 to June 27, 2021. The distribution of food from kitchen centers is going on continuously.
  • It is noteworthy that Deendayal Antyodaya Rasoi Yojana (Phase II) was launched on February 26, 2021 with the objective of providing nutritious food at affordable rates to the poor and needy persons of the state. In this, operation of 100 kitchen centers has been started in 52 district headquarters and 6 religious cities of the state- Maihar, Omkareshwar, Maheshwar, Amarkantak, Orchha and Chitrakoot.
  • In the kitchen center, Chapati/Roti, seasonal vegetables, pulses and rice are made available to the general public in the form of clean and nutritious food. In the kitchen centers, daily lunch is being arranged per person at the rate of Rs 10 per plate from 10 am to 3 pm.
  • The food grains used in the kitchen centers are wheat and rice at Re 1 per kg. Provided by the Food Department through the Fair Price Shop.
