Why in News?
Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai announced new initiatives for senior citizens, including modern old-age homes and a special facility ‘Siyan Gudi,’ alongside a tourism push through EaseMyTrip collaboration.
- Key Announcements for Senior Citizens:
- Modern Old-Age Homes: To be set up under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in Raipur, Bilaspur, Korba, and Durg.
- ‘Siyan Gudi’ Facility: A dedicated centre for elderly care, ensuring cultural and social respect.
- Assistive Devices Service Centre: To be established in Raipur for repairing aids used by persons with disabilities.
- Other Ongoing Initiatives:
- 35 old-age homes currently serving 1,049 residents.
- Palliative care centres functional in six districts.
- Helpline support: Over 54,000 issues resolved by the Social Welfare Department helpline.
- Free healthcare under Ayushman Bharat & Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Health Assistance Scheme.
- Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana & Shri Ramlala Darshan Yojana
- About Tourism Push:
- A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with Ease My Trip under the Paryatan Sathi initiative to promote tourism and create jobs.
- Professional tour guide courses to be offered at ITI Saddu, with batches of 50 trainees in 3-month modules.
- Aims to boost Chhattisgarh’s tourism sector while opening new avenues of employment for local youth.
