- Recently a notification has been issued by the state government to ban the use of the word 'Gorakh Dhandha' in any official communication in the state.

- After this notification, now the use of this word in any official language, speech or in any context in the state has been completely banned.
- A delegation of the Gorakhnath community had urged the Chief Minister to ban the use of the word 'Gorakh Dhandha', saying it hurts the sentiments of the followers of Sant Gorakhnath.
- In August, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had announced a ban on the use of the commonly used term 'gorakh dhandha' to describe unethical practices.

This district is named Gorakhpur after Gorakhnath. The disciple of Gorakhnath was Baba Bhaironnath, who was killed by Mata Vaishnodevi.
