PM's Bangladesh Visit; India-Bangladesh Inked 22 Agreements

India and Bangladesh signed the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) to finally put an end to the 41-year-old boundary dispute. With the border agreement in place, India has now control of 510 acres of land while Bangladesh will have control of 10,000 acres of land. The exchange of documents for this agreement paves way for the operationalisation of the 1974 India-Bangladesh LBA that provides for exchange of 161 enclaves between the two countries. A total 111 border enclaves will be transferred to Bangladesh in exchange for 51 that will become part of India.

In total, India and Bangladesh inked 22 agreements, including on extending a $2 billion Line of Credit to Bangladesh, and on India using the Chittagong and Mongla ports.  Agreements also including, curbing human trafficking, smuggling of fake currency and setting up an Indian Economic Zone, to boost bilateral ties.

8.    Agreement on Kolkata-Dhaka-Agartala Bus Service and its Protocol

9.    Memorandum of Understanding between Coast Guards

10. Memorandum of Understanding on Prevention of Human Trafficking

11. Memorandum of Understanding on Prevention of Smuggling and Circulation Fake Currency Notes

12 .Memorandum of Understanding between Bangladesh and India and for Extending a New Line of Credit of $2 billion by government of India to government of Bangladesh

13. Memorandum of Understanding on Blue Economy and Maritime Cooperation in the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean
