Government to Develop Data Bank of Best Talent for Judges
Sep 04, 2014

After the Constitutional Amendment for the National Judicial Appointments Commission Bill which was passed in both Houses of Parliament, the Union Government is seriously considering setting up of a databank of talented young lawyers to be considered for appointment as judges.

The motive behind developing a data bank of the performance of young lawyers to find best talent is considered for appointment as judges. The Centre has also been trying to make the judicial system more efficient through the use of information, communication technology (ICT).”

Filling up vacancies of Judicial officers, providing good infrastructure, use of information and communication technology in judicial system will not only ensure better delivery of justice but also bring in greater transparency.

The Government has in principle approved 25 per cent increase in the number of High Court Judges. Alternative dispute mechanism should be encouraged to reduce the litigation in law courtsUse of Alternative Disputes Redressal (ADR) mechanisms would help parties to resolve disputes. ADR has great potential to reduce the burden of courts and ensure disposal of cases without resorting to litigation. In several other countries, only a small fraction of disputes ultimately reach a court of law.
