The eighth summit of BRICS, the grouping of five nations, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa has recently concluded in the Indian state of Goa. The summit took forward the process of creating an emerging market network to make the architecture of global governance and economic interaction among nations more equal.



  • All five nations expressed unanimity and support in fight against the terrorism.
  • India’s bid for nuclear supplier group has been acknowledged by all participating nations.
  • The summit has forged new bridge between BRICS nations and BIMSTEC nations (India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka, Thailand and Myanmar).
  • All nations are agreed to a customs agreement to facilitate trade among its members, so that these economies can growth in proper speed.
  • BRICS nations are looking to establish an energy cooperation agency, so that energy needs of these countries can be addressed.


  • BRICS summit has made all the politically right noises on almost all global issues ranging from terror to urbanisation and climate change.
  • Progress on economic integration among the BRICS nations is underway with a group-specific business council and trade fair having been launched and work on aligning non-tariff barriers, customs cooperation and Exim Bank coordination in progress.
  • The declaration piously calls for all countries to stop supporting nations that support terror, respect international law and give primacy to the UN as the central agency for global coordination.


Recently concluded BRICS summit had discussed various emerging global issues and agreed on most of the important issues. From terrorism to climate change, it has hit all the right buttons. All the countries also agreed to fasten the economic cooperation between them. All the countries have received qualified support among each other on range of issues.
