Women-Led Industrial Park Inaugurated in Karnataka | 10 Feb 2026

Why in News? 

A first-of-its-kind women-led industrial park was inaugurated at Gowribidanur in Karnataka, marking a significant step toward promoting women entrepreneurship and inclusive industrial development. 

Key Points: 

• Implementing Organisation: The project was launched by FICCI FLO (FICCI Ladies Organisation) Bangalore in collaboration with the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) and Karnataka Udyog Mitra (KUM). 
  • FICCI FLO: The women’s wing of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). 
• Scale and Design: The industrial park is planned over approximately 50 acres, exclusively for women entrepreneurs who are members of FLO Bangalore. 
  • Aimed at reducing longstanding barriers to entry in manufacturing and large-scale business.  
• Purpose: The park seeks to facilitate women-led enterprises by providing supportive infrastructure, single-window access for approvals, handholding through business consultants, access to finance, and project execution guidance. 
• Facilities: The park plans to offer shared facilities including skill development and capacity-building centres, crèche facilities, R&D support, and other infrastructure tailored to the needs of women entrepreneurs balancing business and family responsibilities. 
• Significance: This initiative not only promotes women’s participation in industry but also supports regional economic growth by promoting industrial development beyond major metropolitan centres.  
  • It symbolises a shift toward inclusive and decentralised industrial ecosystems that empower women in traditionally male-dominated sectors.
