Why in News? 

Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav inaugurated Wildlife Week 2025 (2nd–8th October) by laying the foundation of Namo Van in Manesar, Haryana, along with inaugurating the Aravalli Species Nursery. 

Key Points 

  • Namo Vans: The state government has identified 75 locations across Haryana to develop "Namo Vans" and is actively carrying out plantation drives to promote environmental conservation. 
    • Namo Van is a new eco-friendly park initiative launched across major Indian cities, as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's nationwide push to increase green spaces and promote urban sustainability. 
  • Inauguration of Aravalli Species Nursery: It is dedicated to conserving and replanting native Aravalli species while expanding green cover, protecting biodiversity, and creating wildlife habitats. 
    • The Green Aravalli Action Plan, a collaborative effort between the Centre and state governments, has also been rolled out in southern Haryana. 
      • The initiative spans the Aravalli hills across four states, with five of the 29 identified districts falling in Haryana. 
  • Wildlife Week 2025: 
    • About: Conceptualised in 1952, it is observed annually from 2nd–8th October. 
    • Theme 2025: Sewa Parv – focusing on service and responsibility towards nature. 
    • Objective: Raise mass awareness about wildlife conservation and ecological balance. 
    • Significance: 
      • Strengthens India’s commitment to biodiversity conservation and ecological stability. 
      • Promotes Jan Bhagidari (citizen participation) in environmental initiatives. 
      • Aligns with India’s global commitments towards climate action and sustainability.
