On November 8, 2021 President Ram Nath Kovind honored Sufi singer and musician Madan Singh Chauhan from Chhattisgarh with Padma Shri at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

• Madan Singh Chauhan has been awarded the Padma Shri award in the field of arts for the year 2020.
• It is worth noting that a total of 141 people were selected for the Padma Awards for the year 2020, out of which 7 people were selected for Padma Vibhushan, 16 for Padma Bhushan and 118 for Padma Shri.
• These Padma Awards for the year 2020 could not be conferred due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which were presented at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on November 8, 2021.
