  • Kesar Kaur, considered the first Sikh woman of Gumla, passed away recently. Her death marks the end of an important generation of the Sikh community in the region. 

About Kesar Kaur  

  • She experienced the trauma of the Partition of India 1947 at around 17 years of age. After facing hardships in refugee camps, she eventually settled in Gumla. 
  • Community Contribution:  
    • Among the first Sikh families to settle in Gumla after Partition. 
    • Played a role in laying the foundation of the Sikh community in the region. 
    • Belonged to the last surviving generation of Partition migrants in Gumla. 
  • She spent her entire life in the Bazar Tand area of Gumla. 
  • Remembered for her courage, dignity, and perseverance. Left behind a strong family and inspiring legacy for future generations.
