India and Sri Lanka conducted the 4th edition of the bilateral diving exercise, IN–SLN DIVEX 2026, in Colombo.
Key Points
- Exercise: IN–SLN DIVEX 2026 was held in Colombo in April 2026, marking the fourth edition of this bilateral diving exercise between the Indian Navy and the Sri Lanka Navy.
- The exercise witnessed participation of the Indian Navy’s Diving Support and Submarine Rescue Vessel INS Nireekshak.
- Objective: The exercise aims to improve interoperability in complex underwater operations such as search, rescue, and salvage missions, strengthening maritime security cooperation.
- Humanitarian Cooperation: India handed over BHISM (Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog, Hita and Maitri) cubes under the Aarogya Maitri initiative to enhance disaster response and medical preparedness in Sri Lanka.
- The exercise also included joint activities like beach clean-up drives, sports events, and yoga sessions, strengthening mutual trust and friendship.
