  • Jamshedpur resident Deepti Khemani successfully hoisted the Indian tricolour on the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa (5,895 m), at the age of 53.
  • She reached Uhuru Peak, the highest point of the mountain, on 27 February 2026 and received an official mountaineering certificate from Tanzania National Parks Authority.
  • Deepti Khemani was inspired by renowned Indian mountaineer Premlata Agarwal, the oldest Indian woman to scale Mount Everest.
  • Despite low oxygen levels, harsh weather, and difficult terrain, she successfully completed the expedition, demonstrating strong mental determination and resilience.
