Chhattisgarh observed Police Commemoration Day on 21st October, 2025, with solemn tributes to police and security personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

  • About:  
    • Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on 21st October across India to honour the brave police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. 
    • The date marks the 1959 Hot Springs incident in Ladakh, where ten Indian policemen were ambushed and martyred by the Chinese Army. 
    • To honour their memory, the DGPs/IGPs Conference of 1962 designated 21st October as Police Commemoration Day, observed by all police forces across the country. 
  • Observance in Chhattisgarh: 
    • The state-level event was held at the Martyrs’ Memorial in Raipur, where Governor Ramen Deka, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, and Home Minister Vijay Sharma paid floral tributes to the fallen heroes. 
    • The Chief Minister, while praising the bravery and dedication of police personnel, reiterated the state government’s goal of completely eradicating Naxalism by 31st March 2026, expressing confidence that the courage and commitment of the police forces would make this goal achievable. 
    • He also highlighted the impact of welfare initiatives such as Niyad Nellanar, Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, PM Janman Mission, and Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Scheme, which are transforming lives in remote tribal areas.
